(February 2, 2021)Bryston, a high-end manufacturer of audio gear and loudspeakers, has been acquired by its former VP James Tanner in partnership with another Canadian AV staple, Colquhoun Audio. The acquisition coincides with the retirement of Bryston’s former CEO, Chris Russell. Tanner is Bryston’s new CEO, effective immediately, while Russell will remain active as a consultant.

Tanner’s Bryston roots run deep, having joined the company in 1976. While the company will benefit from his vast experience, the partnership with Colquhoun Audio will strengthen relationships and service options with the dealer community.

Expected service improvements include:
  • An online portal for order processing
  • A web-to-dealer referral service
  • An expanded sales team
  • A customer service hotline for dealer and consumer real-time support
  • Expanded and modernized R&D and manufacturing at Bryston
“There are very few high-performance audio brands that offer the 40-plus year legacy of best-in-class products and award-winning services that Bryston does—and we are committed to providing our worldwide network of dealers with the tools they need to be even more successful,” Tanner explained. “I am very excited about the next generation of Bryston products, beginning with the new BR-20 preamplifier scheduled to start shipping this month, as well as several stellar designs currently in development.”
