In this episode of Bass Hunters, we analyze and review the low-frequency performance of Mercy, a sci-fi thriller that turns out to be one of the more unusual bass mixes we’ve explored. Presented via Kaleidescape in 4K Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos, the film doesn’t rely on nonstop slam. Instead, it builds a textured soundscape full of nuanced atmospheric bass, subtle infrasonic pulses, and selective hard-hitting moments that reward serious systems.

Using SignalScope X and powered by an Ascendo 32" infrasonic subwoofer, we break down how Mercy uses bass as a storytelling tool. A recurring low-end rumble inside the containment room creates tension and scale, while sweeping whoosh effects tied to holographic screens and visual transitions occasionally dip below 20 Hz. It’s not constant deep bass, but when it appears, it adds real weight to the experience.
