While the sonic platform is familiar, the design direction clearly leans into the company’s roots, specifically the 1920s, when Bang & Olufsen was first established. The finish features a combination of dark rosewood and chestnut-anodized aluminum, with alternating vertical lamella panels that recall the symmetry and detailing often found on Art Deco-era buildings. The top cover of the Beovision Theatre adopts a radial “sunburst” pattern cut into wood, giving the piece a center-aligned focal point while preserving ventilation and acoustic transparency.
Looking closer, aluminum surfaces have been etched with a geometric motif developed specifically for this series. Subtly embedded within that pattern are 100 engraved strokes—a nod to the brand’s centenary. The bundled remote and certificate of authenticity are housed in a custom wood case built at the company’s Struer factory in Denmark.
Bang & Olufsen says the Atelier Art Deco system begins at $65,000 USD, not including the video display itself. Distribution is limited to select B&O showrooms, and there are no plans for wider availability.
In short, if you’re looking to get one, the window of opportunity is likely narrow.
If that price tag feels like a reach, you can still bring B&O’s design and performance home with something far more affordable. Launching earlier this month, the new Beosound A1 3rd Generation stands as the world’s first portable Bluetooth-only speaker to achieve Cradle to Cradle Certified (Bronze Level) status. That’s a big deal in the world of sustainability and a reflection of B&O’s stated goal to move toward circular product design. Built with a modular architecture and backed by up to five years of coverage through B&O’s Beocare program, the A1 has been redesigned for longevity and serviceability—with a replaceable battery handled in-store by professionals.
From a performance standpoint, the A1 packs a surprising punch. It houses the largest woofer in its class and now delivers a 64dB Bass SPL—2dB more than the previous generation—while still offering up to 24 hours of playback on a single charge. That’s enough for an entire day of music, indoors or out. It also features stereo pairing compatibility with both Gen 2 and Gen 3 models.
Physically, the A1 is classic B&O: sleek and minimal. Its round form is carved from pearl-blasted aluminum with 2,173 precision-milled holes, finished with a waterproof leather strap. It’s IP67-rated for dust and water resistance, and comes in three finishes—Natural Aluminum, Honey Tone, and Eucalyptus Green.
Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity supports Microsoft Swift Pair and Google Fast Pair, while a three-mic array ensures it performs equally well as a speakerphone. In short, the A1’s beauty is more than skin deep. It’s designed to be used, repaired, and enjoyed for years.
The Beosound A1 3rd Generation is available now for $349 USD online at bang-olufsen.com and in Bang & Olufsen stores worldwide.
