Arrow Video’s Delicious December Slate includes
Hip-Hop Grooves, a Celebrated Giallo, a Supernatural
Shaw Brothers Collection, and an Epic Ninja Turtle Trilogy

Global 4K UHD premieres of Wild Style, The House with Laughing Windows, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy,
with the Blu-ray Debut of Shawscope Vol 4
On December 2, Arrow Video presents the seminal hip-hop motion picture Wild Style in its worldwide 4K UHD debut. Originally released in 1982, writer-director Charlie Ahearn skillfully captured the emerging culture of rap, graffiti, and breakdancing in the Bronx. The Limited Edition release features a brand new 4K restoration from the original 16mm negative, hours of special features, collectible packaging, and newly commissioned extras. There is also a Blu-ray release.

Graffiti artist Raymond AKA “Zoro” (Lee Quiñones, Downtown 81) specializes in spray-painting impressive murals on New York City subway cars. He views artists who have gone legit by creating commissioned murals on buildings as sellouts. What’s the point of graffiti art without the anxiety of the cops chasing after you? Reporter Virginia (Patti Astor, Assault of the Killer Bimbos) cruises to the Bronx to interview several graffiti artists, including Phade (Fred “Fab 5 Freddy” Brathwaite, Yo! MTV Raps). Can Zoro stay an anonymous outlaw when the Manhattan art world is ready to pounce on this urban movement?

Wild Style is a unique blend of fiction and documentary, offering a portrait of the early days of hip-hop with scenes filmed in iconic Bronx venues with pioneer rap acts such as Busy Bee, The Cold Crush Brothers, and Grandmaster Flash, and celebrated graffiti artists Lee Quiñones and Sandra “Lady Pink” Fabara. The influential hip-hop score was created by Chris Stein (Blondie) and Fred “Fab 5 Freddy” Brathwaite.

Special features include a 4K (2160p) UHD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible); newly restored original lossless mono audio; optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing; a perfect bound illustrated collector’s book; a double-sided foldout poster; a Hip-Hop Family Tree comic book; three logo stickers; a brand new audio commentary; an archival audio commentary; brand new interviews with Charlie Ahearn, Lee Quiñones, Chris Stein, and Fred “Fab 5 Freddy” Brathwaite; an image gallery, Wild Style’s 1983 Japanese Tour; three Wild Style anniversary shows; archival featurettes and interviews; outtakes; a “Subway Rap” music video; and theatrical trailers. A limited edition CD features a new mega mix by Jorun Bombay; radio spots; alternate mixes; audio outtakes; and a radio interview with Charlie Ahearn.

Also on December 2, the legendary Italian suspense classic The House with Laughing Windows makes its North American 4K UHD debut. Director and co-writer Pupi Avati created a tense and atmospheric gem beloved by aficionados of the Giallo genre. The Limited Edition set features a 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative graded by Arrow Films, hours of special features, collectible packaging, and newly commissioned extras. There is also a Blu-ray release.

Stefano (Lino Capolicchio, The Garden of the Finzi-Continis) arrives by ferry to a remote Italian town that needs help repairing their church’s damaged fresco. While restoring the masterpiece on the wall, Stefano hears salacious rumors circulating around town. The original artist reportedly performed horrifying torture on his models to capture the right emotions for the painting. Stefano uncovers startling details in the artwork that reveal the true fate of those who posed. While the crimes of the past are being exposed, a killer inspired by the fresco is claiming fresh victims.

Special features include a 4K (2160p) UHD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible); the original lossless mono Italian soundtrack; two brand new audio commentaries; a brand new feature-length documentary featuring interviews with co-writer/director Pupi Avati, actors Lino Capolicchio, Francesca Marciano, and others; two brand new visual essays; the Italian theatrical trailer; double-sided foldout poster; and an illustrated perfect bound collector’s booklet.

On December 9, the most outrageous, haunted action films arrive in Shawscope Volume 4, a Limited-Edition Blu-ray box set containing 16 movies from the vault of Hong Kong’s legendary Shaw Brothers Studios: Super Inframan, Oily Maniac, Battle Wizard, Black Magic, Black Magic Part 2, Hex, Bewitched, Hex Vs. Witchcraft, Hex After Hex, Bats Without Wings, Bloody Parrot, The Fake Ghost Catchers, Demon of the Lute, Seeding of a Ghost, Portrait In Crystal, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Shawscope Volume 4 features epic heroes with superpowers, supernatural skills, and magical spells to go with their iconic wuxia and martial arts moves. All the movies feature new 2K restorations by Arrow Films from the original negatives. The limited edition box set is packed with hours of special features, collectible packaging, and newly commissioned extras.

Super Inframan is the studio’s superhero film for fans of Japanese kaiju movies. Science Headquarters cop (Danny Lee, The Killer) converts into a mechanical kung fu fighting cyborg to protect the world from a Demon Princess. Oily Maniac tells the story of a vigilante (Danny Lee), who uses a spell to transform into an oily monster to seek revenge. Battle Wizard stars Danny Lee as a bookish scholar who fights a trio of villains that attack with snakes, razor teeth, and other unusual weapons.

Black Magic breaks up a wedding when Ti Lung (A Better Tomorrow) abandons his fiancé for a rich widow. Did his change of heart really come from an evil spell? Black Magic Part 2 features an evil sorcerer (Lo Lieh, Five Fingers of Death) loose in a hospital seeking to raise an army of zombies and stay eternally young.

Bewitched follows a police detective to Thailand to investigate if the spirit of a killer had possessed his main suspect. Hex leads a wife to kill her abusive husband with the help of her servant, but they fear he has risen from his watery grave. A compulsive gambler attempts to change his luck by marrying a ghost in Hex Vs. Witchcraft. Lo Mang (Five Deadly Venoms) protects his true love from a demon that wants to possess her body in Hex After Hex.

A villain with his face painted like a shock rock star returns from the grave to terrorize a town in Bats Without Wings. Bloody Parrot turns a simple tale of a swordsman accused of stealing a treasure intended for the emperor into a wild affair with demonic possessions, magical spells, vampires, and the hunt for a supernatural bird that resurrects the dead. A fake spiritualist’s attempt at an exorcism leaves him possessed by his former client in The Fake Ghost Catchers. Demon of the Lute plucks a ragtag group of fighters to locate the only weapon that can stop the destructive musical instrument controlled by an evil spirit. Seeding Of A Ghost starts with a collision as a cab driver runs over a sorcerer only to discover the mystical man sitting in his back seat. Instead of a tip, the cabbie receives a curse that ruins his life. A sculptor carves a crystal warrior that comes to life and brings death in Portrait In Crystal. Science fiction strangeness beams down in Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. A bumbling detective investigates and exploits a music video model’s claim that she was abducted by aliens.

Special features include an illustrated 60-page collectors’ booklet; brand new audio commentaries on many of the movies; the US theatrical version of Super Inframan with lossless “Stereo-Infra-Sound” surround audio; the Cantonese version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star; brand new video essays; interviews with actor Bruce Le and director Alex Cheung; a French TV profile of Shaw Brothers; appreciations of Super Inframan, Bat Without Wings, Demon of the Lute, and Battle Wizard; brand new video essays; theatrical trailers; TV spots; and radio spots.

On December 16, martial arts mayhem rises from the sewers when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy makes its global 4K UHD debut. The three films are live action with realistic animatronic costumes created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles features a brand 4K restoration of the film from the original camera negative by Arrow Films approved by director Steve Barron. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III feature 4K restorations of the films from the 35mm interpositives by Arrow Films. The Limited Edition boxset is overflowing with hours of special features, collectible packaging, and newly commissioned extras. There is also a Blu-ray release.

During New York City's latest massive crime wave, TV reporter April O'Neil (Judith Hoag, Halloweentown) is attacked by thugs. The most unlikely of heroes come to her aid. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are four large, shelled reptiles with martial arts skills and the ability to talk. They live in the sewer, devour pizza and learn the art of ninjutsu from Splinter, a mystical rat. O’Neil and the Turtles discover that the terrorizing criminals are members of the villainous masked Foot Clan, led by the diabolical Shredder. Can Turtle Power clean up the Big Apple? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze exposes the substance that caused the Turtles and Splinter to transform. There’s only one last canister of the Ooze at Techno Global Research Industries. Shredder plans to create new vicious mutants with this final dose if the Turtles can’t stop him. During a fight at a nightclub, the Turtles and Fist swap blows while Vanilla Ice dances and busts out “Ninja Rap.” Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III transports the heroes in both time and space. April O’Neil (Paige Turco, The Stepfather) buys an ancient golden scepter at a flea market. As she shows it off to Splinter and the Turtles, the device glows and projects April back to feudal Japan. She’s declared a witch by the wicked Lord Norinaga (Sab Shimono, Southland Tales). The Turtles must travel back to save April and stop a samurai battle.

Special features include a 4K (2160p) UHD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible); original lossless stereo audio options and more; optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing; a perfect bound collector’s booklet in the style of a Roy’s Pizza menu; three double-sided foldout poster; eight character trading cards; a Roy’s Pizza loyalty card; four character stickers; brand new audio commentaries with directors Steve Barron, Michael Pressman and Stuart Gillard; interviews with director Steve Barron, actors Robbie Rist, Judith Hoag, Vivian Wu and others; a newly filmed featurette exploring the film’s locations; TMNT’s alternate UK version; TMNT’s alternate ending from VHS workprint; TMNT’s alternate Korean footage; archival featurette; alternate UK openings for all the films; theatrical trailers; and image galleries.
