Im actually happy with what I have now. I think Im finally done with the upgrade bug even if most of it was used. Im paying attention to both my music and movie collection.

I enjoy working on the room itself as well. I’m currently planning on rebuilding my media bookcase because my current one is running out of space. It may not be a component of my system but it’s still an upgrade to the room.

The problems with upgrades, is that they're only good for once or twice, then you get used to them and want something better, and so on, if you have visitors and show them your system, they'll probably be impressed, but hard to explain how good the previous system was :) :)

This is true... although I'm not so sure it's always wanting something better in sound as it is wanting something that looks better or has more functionality, or perhaps just something different. I was 100% sure that the McIntosh amps were not going to be one bit different in sound (to me) than my Sanders amps, but I wanted the McIntosh amps because I love the way they look. I guess I might classify that under "better" looks. Similar with my PA-16 amp... I needed "better" functionality (more channels) in one chassis, but I know it provides no better sound (to me). Then there are definitely those things that provide better sound and I can enjoy that better sound for as long as I so desire... OR until something supposedly "better" becomes available that I think might create a better experience for me. One example of this is Dirac Live, then DLBC, then DLART, each providing a better experience sound wise.

It’s good to have the knowledge and perspective you have now to know what you’re buying is and what it isn’t. I’d like to think I’m getting close, having fallen victim to a few “upgrades” that weren’t.
I just returned home from the Florida Audio Expo and this is the first time I can say afterward that I’m totally happy with my audio gear for the space I’m in. Then again, McIntosh wasn’t there this year. :)

Of course we are never satisfied ;)

I've been into this hobby, at least home theater since the late 80's and surprisingly I finally built a dedicated home theater about 12 years ago and was mainly "satisfied" for at least 8 years.

But, just when I thought I was "satisfied" , it pulled me back in about 4 years ago when looking to upgrade to 4k, so I ended up refreshing almost everything in the theater.

I honestly wish I could have a few dedicated theaters so I could check out all kinds of audio/video equipment :)

There's always room for negotiation! I know those Neos are huge, but the sound sooooooooooooo sweet. I would love to follow along on your journey to acquire them!
Are they bigger than the ML Statements were?

I listened to them at the West coast Audio Show in San Mateo, California when they first came out...with 2 stacks of Threshold class A amps. It was insane!

Interesting conversation......I'm content with my current setup....knowing i wil be retiring in 4-8 years.... and then building my forever home and designing a theater for it. I can wait....and then hopefully buy the right stuff once and for all.... LOL
Once and for all?? I'm sure there will be many more changes to that:p:)

I've been trying to make my large purchases in the theater be the 'forever gear' purchases. Stuff that will last well into retirement... I'm assuming my processor will die, and will hopefully need one more. I've been holding out on a laser-based projector, but may be coming close on that with JVC's new pricing. I may decide to move to a pair of 15" subs to replace the 12"s. But speakers, I'm good. Kaleidescape, I'm good. Lumagen, I'm good. Amps, I'm good. No upgradeitis there at all.

The upgrades I've been making have been smaller things that simplify the use. This remote control project is finally getting close to being done, and has also involved lighting. Automated control of the motorized masking will be done soon.

My upgradeitis is upstairs in the 2ch system. I thought I had locked that down, but now my old Jolida tube integrated amp is at the doctor's office, waiting on a diagnosis, so there might be an upgrade, but the turntable, phono preamp and speakers are settled.

The TV in the living room is dying, but it's not used enough for it to be an urgent matter, and I'll probably go with a smaller screen size there next time to be less intrusive in the room, since it's not used much. I've even considered just doing away with it for a nice wall of shelves for the vinyl collection.

There are purchases I have in mind, but they're mostly settling down for the years of enjoyment vs tweaking or chasing some byte or nugget of quality that's missing.
