I'd say both of those units are going to give you the best processing and it will come down to if one has other features you need or like better than the other.

As for your miniDSP file... the only option is to load the saved file, assuming you saved it. You can follow the instructions in the manual on how to load the file. If it is losing it continuously, then you would need to contact support@minidsp.com and report the issue. Your unit made need servicing.

The Arcam has some fairly big advantages if you use multiple subwoofer and buy the optional Dirac Bass Control license. Arcam can support up to 7.5.4 with independant subwoofer outputs calibrated as a whole. Unless you are using BEQ you would not need the MiniDSP with the Arcam if it has the Bass Control license. The NAD is a max of 7.1.4 where as the Arcam is a max of 16 channels (eg. 7.5.4, 9.3.4, 7.3.6 or 9.1.6). The Arcam also offers Auro, EARC and some other additional features.

Neither unit would be my choice new in 2023 (That would be a Marantz AV10). The Arcam sometimes suffers noises or other issues so I would only buy the AV40 second hand if it was from a dealer or easy to return if there is an issue. That said I have an AV40 and it works great in my 7.2.6 setup providing excellent sound and I also have the HDMI 2.1 upgrade installed for it so if you have any specific questions then let me know.

In summary the Arcam has better audio processing due to superior Dirac with 1hz crossover increments and offering the option of Auro. Video processing is not really a thing on either unit as they both pass the video through as is but Arcam offer EARC as standard and the option of a paid HDMI 2.1 upgrade later. Arcam has a nice colour screen on the unit for initial setup and a good web browser interface option too but does not offer on screen/display setup menus at all.
