I purchased mine in May of 2023, and this replaced my Yamaha RXA-2060.

I found the Arc to be much more detailed than Yamaha YPAO.

Curious if anyone else is using this unit.

Would love to hear more detail about your experience with ARC. What does it do that YPAO doesn't?

I've found ARC to be more effective than Dirac, so it's definitely not surprising that it outperforms YPAO.

I always found Dirac sucked the life out of my system, and typically ran with it turned off. It turned an immersive sound into 7 speakers around the room and 4 above, as if it removed any sense of cohesion and space. ARC can flatten out my response without removing the air and shrinking the soundstage.

That's weird Travis. My experience with Dirac is the exact opposite. It blows the soundstage super wide.

It can be finicky, maybe some missteps led to that experience?

I have no idea, and have no desire or need to try again. ARC is phenomenal.

To start with the mics are very different. Not sure if Yamaha has changed their mic, but its a bit flimsy, and odd to use. Anthem includes a very nice tripod as well for the mic. Also Arc allows you to save a file, multiples if you want of your set up. If for some reason your setting get screwed up you can just upload the file and it will load back exactly how you had it. Also handy if you wanted to switch between some different crossover settings. AlsoYamaha was done on screen, Arc is through your PC, Mac, they also have an app where you use your phone, not a fan of that. Arc, also makes you measure from a minimum 5 different points. When I had Yamaha it was only 3. I feel Arc is a great solution to assist with out of the box settings for newbies. Its also pretty advanced if you want to take a deep dive.

A bit of advice, you should also have a UMIK and install REW. After running ARC, take some measurements with REW to see how ARC has done, and then you can tweak your response targets in ARC to fine tune problem areas.

All the room correction software will only show you uncorrected measurements and projected results, but with REW you can measure with the room correction on to see actual results versus a prediction. Really important with whatever room correction you're using.

One of the worst things I have done though is not doing my room treatments. I started upgrading stuff without even doing that first. I need to take a deep dive in that as well.
