What is you all time favorite movie. If you could only take one movie with you to a deserted island what would that movie be?

I know my movie is not a single movie but Played back to back it most certainly is as they flow perfectly together.

The Back to the future trilogy is my favorite. Not only for the story but the soundtrack was and still is awesome.

I have to say that my favorite movies are the ones that really moved me emotionally. Saving Private Ryan was one of those. It was about so much more than the base story of the conflicted mission to save one soldier that cost other lives. I teared up several times. Another one that really touched me was The World According to Garp. It also made me emotional, and it did a great job of bringing a great book to film.

It's so hard to pick a favorite movie... I could very easily just say any of Christopher Nolan's movies. However, if my hand was forced to pick only one, the one that comes immediately to mind is Memento. The movie is just the epitome of a Nolan-esque film! I don't know how many times I've seen the movie, but I am always finding new things in the movie when I do!

"Heat" A classic in which contains an all star cast. I think the audio is outstanding, from the breaking of glass, gunfire, and rumble of the dump truck. Besides what's not to like about a solidly written action film.

Pink Floyd - The Wall? Of course not... the worst movie I ever started watching and stopped. Great music... horrible film for me.

It's a Wonderful Life comes to mind... gotta love that Jimmy Stewart ... although I am not a big fan of Christmas, it's still one of my favorites that I have probably seen more than any other. Medicine Man is another favorite. I don't think I could pick just one.

Just one? Just one? Oh man, I had to look up the definition of favorite to see if I could somehow weasel in multiples. How about a favorite genre? No? Okay, fine - I'm taking my toys and going home!
I'm partial to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The books were required reading in school, and I think they survived translation to the big screen wonderfully. No dogs that I can remember but, hey, all movies can't be perfect!

I'm a big Nolan fan, also. What a talent! He really knocked it out of the park with Interstellar!

I'm not sure I can pick just one desert island movie... there's so may great flicks!

If my feet were put to the fire it would probably come down to Caddyshack and The Right Stuff... and because I'm a big believer in the power of humor, Caddyshack would be my pick.

Flawed, rough production, campy humor, politically incorrect, cheesy music... but a classic!

100% agreed. Interstellar was such a unique vision. I'll admit I'm more of an emotional guy and the scene when Cooper is watching all the video clips that he had missed when they were on the water planet gets to me almost every time. I also don't know how many times I've listened to the soundtrack, either; for a long time it was even on repeat in my car.

I can't wait for his next film, Dunkirk!

I think Interstellar might be my favorite film of the last 5 years... absolutely awesome flick! It's very emotional... how about when he's in the black hole watching himself say goodbye to his daughter?

Very powerful stuff.

Oddly, the first time I saw the movie, I didn't like it. I *almost* left the theater. But, once it was on BD, I sat and watched it with my oldest daughter and our conversations about the plot really unlocked the movie for me. Plus it has KILLER bass!!! :hsd:

Very emotional indeed! So many scenes like that are emotional for me, especially now that I have three daughters. Funny thing is that stuff doesn't phase my wife at all. She really liked the movie, but is more intrigued and into it for the scientific aspect.

I love that the bass is deep, but not overly bloated. A lot of times deep bass is accompanied by boominess and that's not the case here. In this film, like when they are traveling through the wormhole, there's a whole lot of shaking going on in the cockpit and similarly there's a lot of "shaking" happening in my room. Sounds and feels natural! Plus the pipe-organ. Oh man, just the sound design overall for this film!

I'm fairly sure the wormhole and Blackhole scene both have LFE dipping well below 20Hz... probably why it doesn't sound bloated. ;-) You just feel it! I've read some enthusiasts that run speakers as large have sustained damage listening to the movie at high volume levels... the amount of sustained energy in some of scenes is punishing!

The pipe organs have that weird distorted edge... really adds some mystery to the feel of the flick.

Sounds like you and I share a sentimental side... I totally get it. You know, Cast Away (when he returns home) has the same effect on me. Tears!

Not my all time favourites but I still enjoy "Run Lola Run" and "Twelve Monkeys"
I find the concepts behind them interesting.

Note:
I don't have these on DVD or blu-ray but they were replayed on free to air.

I saw Run Lola Run at an independent theater in Philly when I was living there (1999?)... funny you should mention it now, I was just thinking about it a few weeks ago (and only ever saw it once) so I bought it on Blu-ray. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm curious to see if it stands the test of time.

Sounds like it might! :-)

I have such eclectic taste so it is truly hard for me, but the movie that made the most impact on my early in life was "2001 A Space Odyssey" followed by the original "Star Wars" and either "Field of Dreams" or "Princess Bride". I first saw Field of Dreams at the theater and we, the audience, were so into the movie, literally 50% of us, yes including me, stood up to catch the daughter when she fell off the benches while choking on a hot dog, followed by Archie walking off the field. So touching.
Ok maybe "Shawshank Redemption", "Apocalypse Now", "Life as a House", "Who-is Cletus Tout" and on and on......

Shawshank is a classic... a rainy day, on the couch, channel flipping stopper!
