Normally you only have easy access to the GEQ adjustments, which are crude are have a very low Q on each slider (very broad effect), which makes it virtually useless.

Running YPAO (another nearly useless Yamaha tool), alters the EQ using a PEQ, and creates a PEQ file.
I have see posts that mention that this PEQ file can be accessed and manually adjusted, including altering the Q value when making adjustments.
But I haven't been able to find how to actually access the file.

Does anyone know how to access the PEQ file and adjust it?

I hope you find an answer.

It was lack of Yamaha providing this functionality that put me on a path away from the brand. There are things I miss, but better sound, particularly in the bass region, won out.

It was actually my son-in-law who bought the Yamaha, 2nd hand.
He has very little experience with home theatre systems, and I've been helping him out.

My system, which I sold when we moved house, always had receivers with Audyssey, which I loved.
But I still did a fair bit of tweaking using an android app, and of course REW.

Not sure there is a "PEQ File"... See page 88 and 89 of the user manual... https://www.manua.ls/yamaha/aventage-rx-a660/manual?p=88

If you send me a link to those posts I'll take a look at them... I guess it may be possible to get a raw dump of all the systems saved parameters, a way to read and edit those parameters if you can find the correct places to "peek and poke" to make the needed changes...

Yes, that’s pointing to the PEQ file.
I'm not sure your definition of file and mine are the same... :justdontknow: Never the less, I'm waiting for the above mentioned "links"...

This is one link :- https://simplehomecinema.com/2025/01/22/mastering-manual-peq-edits-elevate-your-yamaha-ypao-room-correction-for-precision-audio-calibration/#:~:text=While%20YPAO's%20automatic%20PEQ%20filters,flatter%20or%20more%20customized%20response.

And Yamaha state that the RX-A660 is definitely part of their Aventage series. Which I believe was the first Yamaha series where tweaking of the PEQ settings was possible.
But I'm not sure if Yamaha published the feature.

Regarding the mention of EQ in the manual, it states you can select which EQ you want - PEQ or GEQ or none.
On the RX-A660 I'm talking about, the PEQ is greyed out.

Thank you for the links @Nordo... I'll take a look later tonight or tomorrow as I get some time...

I have had a Yamaha RX-A850 for some years now and it does let me tweak the PEQ settings... I saw a note in the manual for your RX-A660 on page 88 that suggest PEQ is only enabled/present after you configure and use YAPO, which is what I have to do with my A850...

Another thing that comes to mind is if you have the most current software update for your RX-A660...

I believe the A660 has the current firmware.

When I saw that the PEQ was greyed out, the owner (my son-in-law) had already run YPAO.
However, I know he was doing a lot of fiddling, trying understand this new technology (;)), and he may have reset all settings to default, which may have deleted the YPAO (PEQ) settings.
