So this comment has nothing to do with the disc release or the show itself, which was pretty good, imho…
A six episode season? It’s over? I had no idea and feel kinda cheated and hugely disappointed. What’s next, 4 episode seasons?

I didn't watch this... does it feel complete after six episodes? Or do you feel like a few other seasons are to follow?

While well done, there wasn’t much to the plot in these 6 episodes. Thankfully it wasn’t left on ridiculous cliffhanger, so I suppose it was kind of an ending of sorts. I now know season 2 is already filming.
I still don’t understand how back in the day the routine was 20+ season shows and now it takes a couple of years and more to ready a 6 episode show. I will admit to knowing virtually nothing about what it actually takes to produce a show, but as a consumer I’d say the measly output lessens the experience.

I see where you're coming from.

Do you feel like modern shows have radically upped their production quality? There's moments where these shows feel almost like a movie (in terms of quality and production value).

Perhaps that's it?

As people continue to shy away from traditional cinema, these TV series are becoming a creative dumping ground for what may have been a theatrical experience 15 years ago?

I’m not sure my opinion here holds any value, but I’d suppose on the whole that’s true, but then I don’t know what it takes to accomplish and my uneducated impression is today’s tools, particularly in the area of CGI, would be better, faster, and less expensive, so better should be the norm.
Then, when I compare this show to say Star Trek Next Generation, Babylon 5, or X Files, all with 20+ episode seasons, I really don’t understand what would limit a producer to only 6 shows every 2 years.
