How about that Texas - Ohio State game in week 1?
Would I be right to think this never would have happened under the previous playoff system?

yes, I would agree. A great game to watch!

That's going to be a huge game for the number one and two teams playing each other for their first game. Whoa Nelly!

I'm expecting some not-so-normal teams to show up strong this year... since there was a LOT of money contributed to get some elite players they might not otherwise have. It will be interesting to see if they can be coached accordingly.

I didn't get to see much this weekend because I was cleaning up trees from the storm damage, but I'll be all over it this coming weekend. I plan on smoking a couple of Boston butts on Saturday and hanging out next to the TV all day long. :)

What a great bunch of games it will be!
And Sunday has a great game, too.

Yeah... Notre Dame vs Miami... and Carson Beck, the former Georgia Bulldog QB.

Bill Belichick debuts Monday night too.

This game could help propel Archie Manning(if he performs at a high level) towards Heisman consideration

South Florida... somewhat surprised at what they did to Boise State.

Alabama losing to the Seminoles that was an incredible game

Yeah... nothing alarming from all the games this weekend except for the Bama game. I didn't have a good feeling about it for some reason, but after the first drive, I was like, okay, this may be a good day for the Tide. Then... well... then we fell apart and the Noles came alive. They looked good. This game came down to coaching. Bama has talent, and had they been coached properly, perhaps a better game. I'm not saying Deboer is not a good coach... but the talent and team yesterday did not appear to be coached well. The Noles had some good coaching (for a change) and were confidently prepared. I can see them winning a lot of ballgames this year. On the other hand, I can see it being a long season for Bama. The glory days are gone... we all knew it had to end at some point. If you didn't, you were living under a rock. Castellanos was right... Saban is not there to save them. Hey... we had our run, and it was a good one. It's now time to join the ranks of the box of chocolate teams.

Otherwise... while nothing was unusual about the game outcomes for me... Arch Manning was a bit of a disappointment for the hype he was getting. Of course, he was playing a good team in OSU.

Very true, they had their glory days that’s for sure, so many incredible players, coaches, and coordinators alike that have Excel to new heights all because of the Nick Saban tree that was created many years ago, I hear he has a Mercedes Benz cars outlet in some state, would be nice to go there and buy one and perhaps even to meet the man. He is a god after all.
But I think last year Florida State was a huge disappointment from how they finished two years ago, and with the addition of Gus as offensive coordinator, who knows Bama quite well back in his Auburn days may have had a lot of impact as to why Bama surrendered over 30 points and they’re normally known for a salty defense

Gus is an offensive mastermind. Probably not a good head coach for the big boys, but as an OC... he is going to be dangerous. He has Castellanos to work with as well... the right kind of QB.

FSU is my second favorite team, and has been for many years... since way back in the Bowden days. I am hoping they do well this year. If their QB had not gotten hurt a couple of years ago, it could have been a different outcome for them then. As for last year... a major meltdown for sure. Hoping for good things this year, and what better way to start it off than by beating Bama.

@Sonnie Parker , I think Carson Beck made the difference in the Miami - Notre Dame game.

As far as Alabama goes, they were a disappointment. Plain and simple.

Did you guys happen to notice Michael Irving on the sidelines there?
Boy, he looked more concerned than the coach did, quite the elite crowd, Ray Lewis also
