MLB hit king Pete Rose dead at 83

from yahoo,
"Pete Rose, Major League Baseball's hit king who was later banned from baseball, died Monday, the Cincinnati Reds announced. He was 83."

Rose finished with 4,256 hits — the most in MLB history. He’s one of just two players, along with Ty Cobb, to surpass 4,000 hits. Rose also holds MLB records for games played (3,562), plate appearances (15,890) and at-bats (14,053). He won three batting titles and two Gold Glove awards during his career, and he picked up 17 All-Star nods. He was the league’s MVP in 1973, when he held a .338 batting average with 230 hits, five home runs and 64 RBI.

Rose’s career ended in scandal, however, as he was banned from the sport in 1989 for gambling on games — including his own team’s games — while he was the Reds’ manager.

Love post season baseball! Go Orioles and Phillies (if I had to choose).

Sad to hear about Pete Rose. This is BY NO WAY meant to be funny, it's a sincere question I am wondering about. Now that he's gone, is his lifetime ban over and can he be allowed in the HOF?

LETS GO ROYALS!!!

I’m guessing @Todd Anderson is at the game. If so good luck and may the best team win!

I was

Hopefully we can get some hits tomorrow!

Detroit scored their three runs with two outs. Clutch!

Ugh. O's couldn't execute when they needed to! Good luck Royals!

They were 2 extremely clean and well pitched games. Both games could’ve gone either way. It’s been so long I forgot how stressful playoff baseball can be.

Pitching was on point, for sure.

The games pretty much summed up the Orioles' offensive execution in the second half of the season. No small ball and an inability to execute with RISP.

They got three starting position players back off extensive IL visits with about 6 games to go... and the team had something like 67 hits over that 6 game span. So, I was really hoping they were going to keep it rolling. But, wow, they showed a very poor ability to make contact when they needed to. In game one, they had a runner on third with no outs. Couldn't move him home. Then, yesterday, bases loaded with no outs... still can't get anyone across and, in the process, they lost a key player to a broken hand via hit by pitch.

The truth is, the team was too damaged this year. Really limped into October and have now lost 10 straight post season games. The pain and agony continues!

O's owned the Yankees this year. Hopefully KC can crack the code and beat them!

We didn’t fare well against the Yankees in the regular season but who knows? I feel like we’re way ahead of schedule and somewhat playing with house money. Fingers crossed!

I think I'm still recovering from the stress of 2016 with the Cubs. That's what makes all of this so much fun though!

When Rajai Davis hit that homer to tie it up in Game 7, I couldn't take it and stopped watching the game. It was November 2 so I went around the house and took down all the Halloween decorations to try and get my mind off of it. My wife had to calm me down and tell me to come back and finish the game. She of course waited until I was done putting all of the decorations away.

I know that routine well. :-)

The Mets last night… wow!

Great breakdown by Jomboy!
