Anyone try it out yet?

It showed up as a free update on my Carbon X1 Thinkpad, so I upgraded to it.

Not really sure if there is much to fuss about yet.

I just got onto windows 10 a year ago, up from windows 7. I will need a compelling reason. Maybe several.

I'm the Beta tester in household. So far so good, seems they just moved everything around so you always have to look for it where it wasn't before...:justdontknow:

That's pretty much what I'm seeing.

I have it installed on my laptop and one of my desktop systems. I have had 1 crash on my laptop. Other than that it has performed just fine.

The one disappointing thing that I have noticed is that when I hit the windows key and start typing, looking to run an app, it's really slow in finding the app so that I can run it. Maybe about a 2 second lag.

I have it installed on my X1 Yoga Gen 6 as dualboot (Win 10 / Win 11). (Dualboot needs Quick Start to be deactivated!)
-The screen for selection of the operating system was working in the background but not visible
(Intel IRIS Xe graphics driver problem; solved with driver version 30.0.100.9955)
-Displaying seconds in the taskbar is no more possible (at least for the moment). Problem remains unsolved.
-Short (right click) context menu is not practical. In order to get to the desired menu point, one needs to click twice (instead of once).
Old (full length) context menu apparently not available at the moment. Some internet instructions to reestablish it failed. Problem remains unsolved.
-Some Setup settings moved around, you need to find them again..
-Bitlocker is preinstalled but thankfully not activated. Only way to deactivate completely was cmd. Deactivation not available in Setup nor BIOS.
-Android not yet available. Problem remains unsolved.
-Too many unwanted apps and bloatware like Amazon Premium Video (paysite), Instagram, TikTok etc. which need to be deinstalled.
-Win 11 works, but is not finished yet (new software, new bugs). However overall it is significantly more stable than Win 10 was in 2015/2016.

Thanks... very good info. :T

Oh, one thing that I forgot. Windows 11 automatically turns storage encryption on. If you don't want it you have to manually turn it off. Turning it off takes about 1/2 hour or so depending on how much storage is used on your hard drive.

Probably not a bad thing huh... to leave it on?

I turned it off. I was concerned with 2 things. 1) If somehow the key got lost or corrupted what would I do? and 2) what is the processor overhead to do the encryption?

Having said that I did not research.

In my case (see above #6) BitLocker was prepared (visible in disk management as '(BitLocker)') but was not activated.
If you avoid to press 'activate', no need to unlock the drive(s) / partition(s).
Just deactivate via cmd:
Open Windows-Terminal (Administrator)
Write get-bitlockervolume and press enter
Write disable-bitlocker -mountpoint [driveletter:] -confirm (!driveletter: without brackets!) and press enter
Repeat for all mountpoints.
To close, write exit and press enter
