(November 10, 2023) In our last HDMI TEST BENCH review, we tested two of Bridgee's new flagship Mark Series of cables. During the evaluation, we found a conveniently flexible cable capable of reliably playing host to manufacturer performance specs. That means complete support of the HDMI 2.1 specification and all of its characteristics. Additionally, the cable is manufactured to exacting levels with high-grade materials – give the review a watch!

In our latest Giveaway contest, Bridgee has graciously offered to ship one lucky member a new, unopened 10M Fiber Optic 8K HDMI 2.1 Mark Series cable (MSRP $269)! At 10 meters (nearly 33 feet), one lucky member will receive a lengthy run of high-performance cable that can handle both HDMI 2.1 and prior iterations of the HDMI 2.1 specification.

Looks good...count me in. You can never have enough HDMI cables :)

Mixing metric and imperial in one graph?

Anyway, I've asked about measurements of the power consumption of those active cables, and just minutes ago stumbled accross a thread over on AVSForum where someone has figured out a way. Interestingly, he has issues with HDFury devices, just like I have. I've tried measuring the current drawn via one of those USB <-> HDMI power injectors and the results were inconclusive, since the injector I have connects the 5V lines of the HDMI source, the sink and the USB power supply together.

Indeed you have, and I’ve tried to create an apparatus (similar to the one you reference) and failed to get consistent results. I’ve also asked for suggestions from several industry contacts and haven’t gotten a great suggestion of how to proceed.

What could be happening is on the 5V front, in that the copper isn’t substantial enough to carry the voltage signal through to the receiving device, which would cause the handshake to fail.

Also, source devices can be problematic… Apple TV (a device I have all over my home, and enjoy) can be finicky with power supplied to HDMI.

I haven’t forgotten about this particular data point - will keep trying to find a solution that allows for repeatable measurements to insure accuracy.

I am in and thank you for another amazing giveaway. :)
