I'm in the process of lining up a live webcast with Chris Seymour of Seymour Screen Excellence (hopefully in the next week), and am poking around to see if any enthusiasts have questions they'd be curious to hear an expert answer!

So, if you're interested in projector screens and have a question - please ask here!

I'd be curious to hear how they approach the tradeoff between audio transparency and light loss, since it's a balancing act.

Also, where do they see the future going as far as aspect ratio goes. Disney+ is starting to feature some IMAX-framed titles, although in 1.90:1,not in 1.43:1. Add in other streaming services that are using 16x9 aspect ratios, and there are multiple choices for consumers to choose from.

Some of that can be alleviated with masking, but there's typically a primary ratio for the screen, and masking will just make the picture smaller, unless one opts for a four-way masking system. What are the most common ratios they sell today, and do they see that market shifting over time as streaming becomes more and more popular?

You could also ask them if they've ever considered giveaway contests for a popular A/V enthusiasts' forum. ;)

I think I can answer that one for ya....

Not on topic, but do screens have a typical life and how can you tell when it’s time to replace?

Do high gain screens improve the HDR experience and if so, can it be a significant difference?

Great questions @JStewart! Chris and I had a preliminary call today to run through some things and HDR is on the docket. I'll ask the other question at the end!

Thanks for asking us for input on the questions. It's a great opportunity for enthusiasts to interact with manufacturers, and also a chance for them to hear what kinds of things might be on the minds of their customers.

Definitely! You’re also welcome to ask questions during the live stream. But, I know it’s tough to for a lot of folks to break away mid-day.

There's a saying in the industry. Date your projector and marry your screen. Fixed frame projector screens can easily last 20 years which is why it's better to buy a screen that supports a higher resolution so you future proof yourself as technology progresses to higher and higher resolutions.
