I'd like to take it even further and have a watch party out in the ocean.

And then go snorkeling after??

I grew up on/around the water in New England south of Boston and remember well seeing this in the theater. At the beginning of the movie with the theme music playing and the camera underwater showing the sharks point of view, some guy in the theater shouts out "hey, where's Jacques Cousteau?" Cracked the place up... for a minute. Then it scared the heck out of everyone.
I was seventeen and it was all we talked about as we went about our summer vacation teenage business in a town much like Amity. A couple of times, at night after more summer teenage business (think the opening scene of the movie with kids on beach, very realistic), we dared each to go for a swim. And not everyone would go in. I think that movie actually changed the way many of us felt about being in the water for a long time after.

But now that I think of it Todd, I remember seeing the photo of you jumping off a mountain with your daughter attached to a big kite. You'd go in.

Why great memories - best that you have such a vivid recollection of seeing it in the theater. Hilarious that it got in your head - it got in my head too! Those days, in the 70s, were good ones. Jaws is such an iconic film that literally ruined the water for a ton of people. What a classic.

You’re right... I ran off the side of a mountain in the alps last summer. Talk about a rush!! My nerves were a wreck in the minutes leading up to it.

I actually was 15 hours into getting my open waters divers license about a week ago, before it was decided a medical issue of mine could be a problem during a dive. So I made the decision to abort. But I love snorkeling... I’ve done it all over the world. Pacific in The Philippines, Hawaii, Galapagos, Atlantic seaboard, down In the BVIs... have seen quite a few sharks. It’s a thrill, for sure. Graceful beings

wow, that is so cool. Watching jaws while in the water. Fascinating.
