(April 7, 2026) If your outdoor space is starting to look like a second living room, your audio probably needs to keep up. That’s where SoundTube’s latest release comes into play. The new Rockustics Cherry Bomb Galaxy CBG5 is built to inject serious sonic energy into patios, walkways, and backyard hangouts, without relying on the usual mix of scattered speakers and hidden subwoofers.

The Cherry Bomb Galaxy doesn’t try to disappear. In fact, it does the opposite. This is a visible, architectural-style bollard speaker that’s meant to be part of the visual landscape. That shift alone says a lot about where a segment of outdoor audio is heading. It’s less about hiding hardware and more about integrating it into a space's overall design.

Under the hood, there’s a lot going on. The Cherry Bomb Galaxy is built around a three-way speaker system that combines a 5.25" dual-chamber bandpass subwoofer, a 4.5" midrange driver, and a 0.75" titanium dome tweeter. What makes this setup interesting is that all three elements live inside the same enclosure.

That’s a departure from many traditional landscape systems, where subwoofers are placed separately from satellite speakers. In those setups, getting bass to feel consistent across a space can be tricky. Placement matters, phase alignment matters, and the results can vary depending on where you’re standing. By integrating the subwoofer directly into the same cabinet, SoundTube aims to deliver a more coherent presentation, where low, mid, and high frequencies all originate from a single point.

Performance-wise, the Cherry Bomb Galaxy is rated to reach down to 38 Hz (-10dB) at the low end. That kind of extension should add presence to music in open-air environments, but the -10dB notation suggests fairly significant rolloff. So, expect a full-bodied sound that holds together across a wider listening area, but don't expect miracles in the bass region.

Flexibility is another part of the design. The speaker supports 70.7V, 100V, and 8-ohm operation, making it adaptable for both residential systems and larger commercial installations. Whether it’s a backyard setup or a resort pathway, it can slot into a variety of distributed audio designs without requiring major system changes.

Installation has also been streamlined. The Cherry Bomb Galaxy uses a direct-burial bollard design, which minimizes excavation and reduces labor compared to more complex landscape systems. The enclosure itself is constructed from rotomolded LLDPE with a weatherized aluminum grille, built to handle long-term exposure to the elements.

The Rockustics Cherry Bomb Galaxy CBG5 is available now in black and brown finishes through SoundTube and authorized dealers. Because this is a dealer-only product, pricing hasn't been officially announced, though online retailers are currently quoting $1,325 per speaker.
