TNT'S EMMY® AWARD-WINNING
SERIES ARRIVES ON BLU-RAY & DVD
Hailed as “exhilarating to watch” by USA Today and “richly detailed” by the Los Angeles Times, the Emmy® Award-winning series arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on September 10.
Fans of the hit TNT crime thriller can go inside the visual effects houses that won the 2018 Emmy® for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Supporting Role with the DVD's exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary, "Pixel by Pixel." Alongside the show's impressive visual effects team, fans can look at the recreation of 1890s' New York City.
The gripping, turn-of-the-century prestige thriller follows Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl, Rush), a brilliant and obsessive “alienist” in the controversial new field of treating mental pathologies, who holds the key to hunting down a never-before-seen ritualistic killer murdering young boys. Based on the award-winning, fan-favorite novel by Caleb Carr, with additional standout performances from Luke Evans (The Girl on the Train) and Dakota Fanning (American Pastoral), The Alienist is a murder mystery like none other: the story of the emergence of the world’s most powerful city that will stop at nothing to bury its darkest secrets.
The Alienist is a co-production of Paramount Television and Turner's Studio T. BAFTA-nominee Jakob Verbruggen (Black Mirror) serves as director and executive producer along with Academy Award® winner EricRoth (ForrestGump), Academy Award® nominees Hossein Amini (Drive) and E. Max Frye (Foxcatcher), Anonymous Content's Steve Golin and Rosalie Swedlin, along with Chris Symes and Emmy® winner Cary Fukunaga (True Detective). Serving as co-executive producers on the series are Marshall Persinger (Rectify) and Jamie Payne (The Driver).
The series received six Emmy® Award nominations and two Golden Globe® Award nominations, including being nominated for the 2018 Emmy® in the Outstanding Limited Series category as well as Best Television Limited Series at the 2019 Golden Globes®.
I started watching this a couple of times and stopped for reasons I don’t recall. It was really pretty good. Thanks for the reminder. I’ll have to get back to it.
