(May 30, 2025) Theory Professional is growing its presence in the pro audio world with the launch of the SR Series—an eight-model family of loudspeakers and subwoofers designed for demanding sound reinforcement applications. From portable DJ rigs to permanent installs in hospitality spaces, performance venues, and corporate environments, this new lineup covers a lot of ground.

The SR Series sticks closely to Theory’s brand DNA: compact designs, strong aesthetics, and sound that’s both clean and commanding. Each model is built to order in the United States and is available in both passive and powered versions, with black and white finishes as standard options, and custom paint and weatherization options also available.

There’s no shortage of flexibility here. Each SR loudspeaker comes with ergonomic handles, pole cups, multiple fly points, and industry-standard mounting options. Smaller speakers, like the quad 6-inch SR-46.2 or the dual 8-inch SR-28.2, can be surface-mounted using Theory’s optional SplitYoke brackets. Larger models can be turned into portable systems with caster kits and dolly boards, making them ideal for mobile events where fast setup and solid SPL are both on the checklist.

"Response from consultants, integrators, dealers, and end-users to our small-format products has been overwhelmingly positive. All of them have requested Theory high-fidelity sound from large format products,” explains Paul Hales, CEO and product designer for Theory Professional. “SR Series loudspeakers are specifically designed to fill this niche with a family of products that are flexible, compact, easy to install, but which offer sonic accuracy, clarity, and resolution not available from any other brands in the market segment. They don’t just sound more refined, they look more refined, too. They are truly unique; truly Theory.”

Theory’s first four full-range loudspeakers in the SR Series include:
  • SR-46.2: A quad 6-inch 2-way model with a narrow column-like footprint and 120° conical coverage.
  • SR-28.2: Dual 8-inch design with an 80° x 60° elliptical horn.
  • SR-112.2: Single 12-inch version with the same horn spec as the 28.2 for broader applications.
  • SR-212.2: A beefy 3-way model with dual 12-inch woofers and dual 8-inch mid/high drivers—all packed into a cabinet just 10 inches deep.
On the subwoofer side, Theory is launching four manifold bass-reflex options:
  • SR-212LF: Dual 12-inch, 1,400-watt subwoofer for compact yet potent low-end.
  • SR-215LF: Dual 15-inch version with 3,600 watts of peak power.
  • SR-218LF and SR-221LF: Dual 18- and 21-inch models (also at 3,600 watts) for full-tilt applications where max SPL and deep extension are non-negotiable.
Each sub is sonically matched to the smaller SR models, allowing integrators to mix and match based on project needs without sacrificing tonal cohesion.

Theory will be running live demonstrations of the SR Series at InfoComm 2025 in demo room W232B, using AES67 digital audio to showcase just how cleanly a networked Theory system can come together—no analog cabling mess required.

The first eight SR Series models will ship in Q3 2025. For more info, visit theoryprofessional.com.
