I've become a fan of Tim Urban, the author for, and proprietor of, Wait But Why?
First article I came across of Tim's is this relatively short article on sound (go figure, right?)

So both humorous and interesting right? That seems to be his style.
He does cuss from time to time when writing in the common tongue, but if that's ok with you here's a longer article he wrote on Neuralink , Elon Musk's company that is actively developing a brain - computer interface. Musk gave him full access to his team of geniuses and Tim explores both the science and some of the frightening social issues that could arise from this potentially human race changing technology.

This is a lengthy one (like short novel lengthy) titled "The Story of Us" which has great insight into why we humans behave the way we do and which he neatly ties into to why we in the US are mostly behaving like bunch of idiots that drank too much red or blue kool-aid. It's completely non-partisan and for me at least, a real eye opener that tied a bunch of seemingly disparate observations together.
Hope you enjoy 'em as much as I have.

Everything You Should Know About Sound
We all know what sound is. Except actually, no we don't. Let's fix that.

Neuralink and the Brain's Magical Future — Wait But Why
I knew the future would be shocking but this is a whole other level.
