Finally took time to shoot it today... Glock 34 MOS with Trijicon SRO and GSL can... about the quietest 9mm can on the market.

You have to have a $200 tax stamp here in the USA. I pay $500 per year for my SOT, which allows me to have any NFA items, such as SBR (Short Barreled Rifle), Silencer, etc.

Sonnie, that looks like it’s straight out of a spy movie!!! What’s the normal dB of that firearm? How much does the suppressor shave off?

You didn't know I was a spy?

Not sure what the normal dB is, but I do plan to measure the response and SPL with REW at some point in time. The GSL Stealth claims a dB reduction of 34dB. It's pretty quiet, but still loud, although you don't need ear muffs.

I knew it! Sonnie Parker, 007.

I’m guessing the near silent suppression that Hollywood portrays is exaggerated?

Yes... about the only think you get near silent like Hollywood is a .22 caliber.

My .300 Blackout AR style pistol is like a pellet gun and it shoots a 200 grain subsonic round. The bolt carrier makes more noise than the round being fired. If I close off the gas block, all I hear is what sounds like a pellet gun... although it then makes it a single shot and I have to reload each time. It's still very quiet with semi-auto action.

Pew... Pew... Pew pew pew... Nice pistol @Sonnie... I agree with your .300 AAC Blackout aka .300 Whisper comment... A Dirt Squirrel style AR pistol/sub with a nice Can shooting subsonic ammunition makes for a very nice and quiet Home Defense / Force on Force kinetic weapon... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours...

Here's my other quiet bang that I use for self-defense in the house. 1.5 pound Calvin Elite trigger. Suppressed SBR... pellet gun quiet.

I wondered if the flashlight on top of the barrel guard/shroud interfered with the optics.
I assume you used a longer shroud to conceal the suppressor more.
Is the suppressor tacked on to eliminate the need for a tax stamp for the sbr? I know the silencer would still require a stamp.

The optic is raised up a good bit... no interference from the light... however, with my Daniel Defense DDM4 rifle, I have an angled foregrip and the light is on the bottom... I may change it to match.

Yep... shroud covers the suppressor... and not tacked. This is a double whammy if you don't have an SOT, as you need a tax stamp for the silencer and for the SBR... $400.

That looks like a very nice build @Sonnie... Is that a 7.5 inch barrel? And a 6 inch silencer? A 1.5 pound trigger is too light for me on a SBR... I go with 3 to 3.5 lbs... Same as my pistols... And save the 1.5 lbs for the long rifles...

Happy New Year!!!

I believe the barrel is 6.5" and the silencer is a Specwar 7.62, so it's 9"... with a 15" handguard.. It's an Anderson RF85 treated barrel, but I don't think they make it right now.

The only drawback to this setup is it's really a bit heavy, although it is strictly for self-defense.

It basically shoots like a rifle with the adjustable stock and the long handguard.

That is a very nice setup @Sonnie... A touch long for in the house for me... If I am not mistaken, that Specwar 7.62 Can is warranted to a 7" barrel... No worries... We are all friends here... I'll shoot a .300 AAC over a 5.56 all day long... Except when having to reach out there with the .300 WinMag...

BTW what sub-sonic do you shoot in that 9mm pistol? And what the heck do you put those 410 shells in? Is your hideout a Judge?:dizzy: I have a little .380...:justdontknow:

It could be a 7" barrel... considering the handguard is 15"... the can is 9"... that only leave 6" and the end sticks out past the rail a good inch... maybe 1.5", so it could be a 7.5".

For 9mm subsonic I have some Atomic and some SuperVel in 147gr and 158gr. And I shoot some other 147gr from various brands. The .410 is for a SnakeCharmer single shot and a Judge Public Defender. I normally load it with #9 birdshot for when I am down at the cabin/pond. But when it's in the safe I keep it loaded with the PDX1 for self-defense... just in case.

I used to shoot 158gr SuperVel 38/357s from a Colt Python... Nice loads... My "snake charmer" is a Kimber .45... Bunch of snakes out at my pond eating the goldfish... I can't seem to find my favorite CCI .45 ACP shotshells in the local shops any more... They are also fun to shoot quail over pointers with... Quick draw...

Totally illegal here in Oz.
Same over here in Germany. I'm not a lawyer, but I think the legal logic is that even if you have the permission to carry a gun for self defence, a silencer is considered an attacking device, not a device for self defence.

It may be illegal here pretty soon... with our new government who is not so favorable to the 2nd Amendment.

The idea that a silencer is for attacking is a bit of a Hollywood notion. It provides a level of hearing protection.

Have you heard of the GSL 9mm Trinity SS suppressor? It’s not listed on the GSL site. When I search the net all I find is a you tube video of a guy shooting it and a local dealer that has one for sale.

It is not on our sale list... but the dB reduction is not that good either.

Silencers are really and truly for hearing protection. I don't need a silencer for attacking anything... but it sure is nice to not have to wear ear plugs or ear muffs when shooting now.

Marines or anyone shooting their rifles without hearing protection is not good for the ears. It also makes sense that they wouldn't want to use hearing protection in war... so I can see where this would greatly benefit the military. However... a silencer shot can still be heard quite well even at a distance... but the close up range is silenced considerably... typically 30dB+.
