This looks like a super fun movie, but it is getting horrible reviews for the most part. At least from what I have seen and read.

same here. Tom Cruise has never failed to entertain (even if his movies are not great) but the reviews aren't pretty. I'll hopefully check it out and see how it is

I picked up "The Mummy Ultimate Trilogy" in 4K at Walmart today. From what I have seen for reviews the picture quality (HDR and 4K) and the immersive audio tracks came out real well. It also came with $8 dollar Fandango redemption to see the new Mummy Movie. I have my ticket and seat booked for tomorrow matinee (Sunday). I will let you know how it is.

So to give an overall view of the film "The Mummy" 2017.

In accordance with RottenTomatoes.com: Out of 235 critics the overall rating was 4.2 out of 10. Audience ratings are listed at 2.9 out of 5.
Critics Consensus: Lacking the campy fun of the franchise's most recent entries and failing to deliver many monster-movie thrills, The Mummy suggests a speedy unraveling for the Dark Universe.

I agree whole heartedly with the critics consensus. At the same time I do not find that this film is as bad as stated. Unfortunately, it like most films that are being rolled out today, lack strong character building and the core essentials of a story line. Specifically a beginning, end and climatic finale. Instead they tend to create a shallow foundation of characters which are then rushed to an ultimate finale. Why or how Hollywood has begun this style of film making is up to question. Are they cutting script costs and filming time to increase profits due to declining movie theater attendance and hard media purchases?

I found the movie to be solid, or what I have come to consider a typical 3/5 these days for films produced. I don't find it a keeper or something to rush out to watch. The plot is not deep enough to pull you in. The horror is expected and therefore not startling. Most peculiar of all to me though is the reference to Dr. Jekyl/Hyde. It is clear that they intend to roll out sequels, but then again maybe not with ratings so low. The film overall clearly lacks the deep characters and time transcending plot of the previous sequels.

Recommend: Rent

This was the first time I watched a movie at a theater (other than my house) that had recliners. I like that style theater :)..smaller room, less people, more comfortable. Literally there were only 4 other people in the theater. I have watched movies at this theater in the past, not sure if only some theater rooms are like this or they have all been upgraded (its a Regal theater). I'm guessing only some theaters and that they played this movie in that theater because there is less interest in the movie and less seats in the nicer theater rooms ? They have like 22 theater rooms. I should ask next time, maybe I would go out to the theater more often. I think they charge a little more for the fancier rooms as my matinee ticket was $10, thought matinees are usually cheaper than that but then again the last time I went out to a theater was at least a year ago or more.

Thanks for the critique... although I am still wanting to own it for some reason.

Wow... so they are building theaters with recliners now. And only 5 people watching the movie? How many seats are in that particular room?

Yes, full electronic recline suedo leather home theater seats. I believe it had 3 rows of 15 then a row of 5 for handicap and then 4 rows of 12.
