(January 9, 2026) New year, new earbuds... and these might just be worth your attention. Soundpeats has formally launched Aura Nebula, a new true wireless earbud that takes a notably different approach to acoustic design than most products in its category. Rather than prioritizing minimalism or extreme battery life, Aura Nebula is built around a more complex driver topology intended to improve separation, tonal balance, and spatial presentation.

Here's where things get interesting. At the center of the design is a hybrid five-driver acoustic system paired with a three-way electronic crossover. This configuration is uncommon in true wireless earbuds, where space and power constraints typically limit designs to one or two drivers. In Aura Nebula, each section of the frequency range is assigned to a specific driver type, allowing bass, midrange, and treble to be handled independently rather than shaped primarily through DSP.

Low frequencies are produced by a 10mm dynamic driver, while the midrange is handled by a 6mm planar driver selected for its speed and control. Two balanced-armature drivers are used to manage the upper midrange and presence detail, with a micro-planar tweeter extending the top end. The intent is not exaggerated output, but improved clarity and consistency across the spectrum, particularly at moderate listening levels.

The physical design mirrors that engineering focus. Aura Nebula uses a multi-layer IML shell that introduces subtle visual depth without relying on aggressive branding or high-gloss finishes. The shape incorporates an S-curve exterior intended to reduce wind noise during outdoor use, a practical consideration that is often overlooked in true wireless designs.

On the wireless side, Aura Nebula supports a broad range of high-bitrate codecs, including aptX Adaptive Lossless, LDAC, LC3, and Snapdragon Sound. This allows compatible devices to maintain higher data rates without sacrificing connection stability. Noise cancellation is handled through an adaptive hybrid ANC system rated up to 55 dB.

Additional features focus on everyday usability, including wireless charging and fast charging, with up to 7 hours of playback per charge. Dual-device connectivity allows switching between a phone and computer without manual re-pairing, while a low-latency mode reduces delay for video and gaming use. Sound adjustments and EQ are managed through the PeatsAudio app, which also includes fit detection to help maintain consistent performance.

Aura Nebula is scheduled to be available this spring for $200. More information, including final retail availability, can be found at soundpeats.com.
