I've averaged the measurements of my 2.0 setup and would appreciate some pointers from more experienced users on how to proceed with the EQ portion before doing further manual tweaking, if necessary. As an initial check I set zero smoothing, max correction limits at 20-20000 Hz and listened to some familiar recordings. So far I'm pleased but I'm unsure on what would be a better staring point as for my setup. I have attached my averaged measurement and desired target curve.

Please tell me that those EQ filter indications are only what was recommended by the program - you didn't really dump 20 filters into your system?

Is the graph shown with filtering, or without?

Can you share more information. What is your room like? Dimensions? Speaker type? Location?

For measurements. Where did you take them? How many were averaged? What mic are you using? Where was it pointed for each measurement?

I only pre-applied mic calibration. Other than that It's the average of all room measurements, unless I made a misstake. Do you think it looks off?

It looks really good for not having any equalization.

Basically you’re tracking your desired target pretty well. A parametric filter centered @ 6.5 kHz with a 1-octave bandwidth (1.4 Q) and cut 4-5 dB would get the high end at the target. The area between 100-200 Hz is going to be hard to smooth out, probably not worth the trouble.

As for the low end, I’d have to have some details in your subwoofer before making any recommendations there, such as make and model.

Wayne

Just as an alternative approach to gain similar results, if you have the ability to can use a shelf filter at about 1.5khz to 2khz and -3d or so. You can play with the start frequency and amount of reduction to tune the sound.

Personally I would try to flatten the bass region under 300hz if you have the ability. REW will generate the filters for you. I suggest limiting the number of bands you use to a point. REW shapes the filters by using a number of filters close together and so these are ok. They don't need to be treated as seperate filters. I usually limit the boost to 3db and flatness can be 2-3db or so. You won't hear smoother bass than that anyway.

If I recall you said this is a 2.0 system, so no subwoofer. Getting one and integrating it would help your bass a lot. Getting 2 or more is better for bass smoothness, headroom, and integration.
