Seymour-Screen Excellence’s Enlightor-Neo Takes 4K AT Material to the Next Level

(August 11, 2017) Long-time industry leader Seymour-Screen Excellence has announced the arrival of a new Acoustically Transparent (AT) 4K/HDR rated film material, offering a performance upgrade over the company’s popular Enlightor-4K AT screen. Dubbed “Enlightor-Neo,” Seymour plans to unveil the screen at CEDIA 2017 (with a challenge for show attendees).

Enlightor-Neo offers better AT quality with a surface comprised of a revolutionary-woven pattern that improves both audio and video performance. According to the company’s Managing Director, Chris Seymour, the new screen offers 0.5dB more acoustic transparency over its previous flagship product with a whiter looking color. The screen’s surface has a more matte finish (1.0 gain) and has more “stretch,” which means it can be pulled more tightly than competing products. Seymour says the screen’s properties make it ideal for difficult custom installs (such as motorized retractable applications).

“While the pattern is not randomized like Enlightor-4K, its ‘structure’ is shrunk down so small that it passes the challenges I make at tradeshows where I invite people to come up and literally put their nose smack up against the material and tell me if they can see any structure,” says Seymour.

Enlightor-Neo is one of four Enlightor Series of AT screen surfaces, with a unique classification of being rated for home and studio use (with no minimal seating distance). The others include:
    • 4K (.9 gain, no minimal seating distance required, ideal for home and production)
    • Bright (1.1 gain, optimized for larger home theaters and film production)
    • PRO (.9 gain, optimized for film production, commercial cinemas)
All of the company’s screens are designed and manufactured in Iowa, with order turnaround times taking roughly five to seven days (more complex orders, such as motorized designs, taking two to three weeks). Sounds good. Always great to have a visual medium like video to help explain/sell the product. Seeing is better. :)

Chris is a friend of mine. I'm a video producer. What do you want to see? :)

Also, you can request sample swatches of all of their fabrics.

A demonstration of the screen will be good. I saw this one on youtube which I thought was informative. :)

Sure, but for a material, are you wanting microscopic shots of the weave pattern, or... A video for a masking system is relatively simple. For a material, I'm more curious what a typical customer would want to see. Chris and I have talked about this kind of thing, but nothing has materialized. In a typical video, the differences between his materials will not really be visible.

For a customer, I think a close up shot of the material itself would be beneficial. Can do a compare and contrast to show customers the difference.

Chris has always been very accommodating to me in the past. Anytime I asked for samples, he'd always get them to me.

Travis - are you in Ames? My daughter attends ISU and I was thinking that I may swing by Seymour's locale sometime this school year.

I don't think I'll be in SD this year. I went to Dallas with him last year, but I don't think I'm going to make it this year.

I am in Ames, actually work on campus. Let us know if you'll be in town, our theaters are walking distance from each other!
