Sorry if this has been answered many times but I didn't see it specifically said in videos and couldn't find a thread here after looking for a while.

When doing time alignment of subwoofers in REW do you first need to remove all distance settings in your AVR?

I measured the distances for my front subwoofers and put that value into my AVR. It's about 15 feet.

I am running the sub out on my AVR to a miniDSP 2x4 HD to 4 subs.

Should I set my sub distance to zero and then do time alignment in REW?

Or should my distance settings not matter in my AVR?

Thank you,

Matt

Either way so long as you are aligning the subs to each other using the 4 outputs on the MiniDSP and then aligning the resulting aligned subwoofer group to the mains.

Thanks J. Are there any good tutorials on aligning subs and mains?

Should be something on YouTube by now you’d think.
You want to use REW’s alignment tool.
To use it you’ll need to take measurements in REW using a timing reference. Info partway down this REW help page.

A basic idea of the tool here:

@jtalden ’s guide to measurements needed:

The trickiest part for many seems to be figuring out how to get measurements using REW’s acoustic timing reference.
If you find yourself in that place then post your measurement devices and signal chain devices with types of connections and someone will be able to help assist.
