Like the AV855, the AV835 comes loaded with 20 levels of dialogue boost. That includes 10 levels of AccuVoice, which applies hearing-aid algorithms to lift voices out of background noise, and 10 levels of SuperVoice, which further suppresses background effects so dialogue remains intelligible even when volume is low. Output Leveling is also on board, smoothing out the spikes of loud commercials while making quiet moments easier to catch, a quality-of-life feature that makes long viewing sessions more comfortable.
Despite its compact size, measuring just over 17 inches wide and under 2 inches tall, the AV835 is said to deliver a big sound. Two 2.95-inch woofers deliver bass, while two smaller front-firing drivers carry mids and highs. ZVOX’s PhaseCue Virtual Surround processing creates the sense of a wider soundfield, including a virtual center channel that gives dialogue more focus. The end result is a single-bar solution designed to outperform its compact footprint.
The build quality aims for the same upscale impression as the larger model, featuring a brushed-aluminum cabinet and a metal grille designed to blend seamlessly with modern interiors. Connectivity is straightforward, with HDMI-ARC as the primary one-cable hookup, plus optical and 3.5mm analog inputs and outputs for added flexibility. A hidden digital display shows volume and input, while the included remote uses large buttons for simple control. The AV835 can also be operated by most TV remotes for volume, mute, and power, eliminating the need to juggle multiple devices.
At $269.99, it’s available now through Amazon and directly from ZVOX at www.zvox.com.
