I've read the article on REW and room modes and already have my first question on the setup. I have a complex-shaped room with ceiling heights ranging from 9'-6' to 15'-2". The ceiling is vaulted over roughly 35' over multiple rooms, so I am focusing on an area that is within 15' in every direction from the seating area to take measurements. The guide suggests setting a speaker (sub) in one corner and the microphone in the opposite corner near the ceiling. I will be taking readings from multiple corners before some at the two seats, but do not have the ability to raise the mic to the full ceiling height. Is there a height lower than the ceiling that would sufficient to determine the room modes? Thanks for the help.

Sure, just put the mic in another corner on the floor if you want to see the extremes of the modal behaviour. It isn't especially relevant though,.
