REW used for sample analysis, not room reverberation

HI all,

I am looking to characterize some drum cymbal sounds, looking at decay rate of various frequency bands. Is it possible to use REW to analyze sound samples of cymbal hits, or do the REW tools only work using the frequency sweep as the input to generate the sound? I have an automated way to hit the cymbal to get the same dB level of multiple samples to compare. The samples have a very fast rise time, so could they be used like an impulse response as the input to the analysis, vs the standard frequency sweep? Thanks!

You can import audio data using the File menu entry and REW can produce frequency responses, waterfalls, spectrograms and the like for it. Or you can import them as Impulse responses, so REW will treat them as such.
