REW Installation - Not Responding

Hi all, I am trying install REW on Windows 10, but it get's stuck with "Not Responding". I thought maybe the dl was corrupted, so I downloaded it again, but it's the same. I also verified that Java 8 is installed. Any ideas? Thanks.

If the REW program files folder has been created there may be some clues in the installation.log file at C:\Program Files\REW\.install4j

Otherwise which version are you trying to install and where does it get stuck (on what screen)?

This keeps happening over and over again I've tried shutting off my realtime protection on windows defender and running the installer as an administrator

If you have a very old Java 8 installation that can happen. Otherwise the installer makes a log file whose name starts with i4j_nlog there may be clues in that, check the REW installation folder if it has been created or the temp folder the installer runs in.

If there's an old Java 8 you can just uninstall it.
