REW Beta Release REW H2-H9 frequencies allways comes from generator if started

REW allways takes the H2-H9 frequencies from the built in generator (if started)
The fundamental stays where it is in the display but H2-H9 is moved and used in the calculations.
Thus screwing up a running measurement on say input 1 (no output connected)

It would be nice to be able to use the generator independantly.

That seems a fairly niche use case, generally when the generator is being used while measuring distortion it is providing the excitation and hence is the best source to obtain the excitation frequency.

You are rigth, but this marvelous tool can be used for so many things! Arta and even MI Pro is blown away by the performance of REW (a lot due to the coherent averaging)
Strange though to see a very nice FFT measuring distortion of a 1 khz generator, then starting the REW generator at 5 khz and see all the harmonics move while the fundamental is unaffected... Jeez what just happend))
