Rew eq use today experienced clipping

Hi all, with your advises all went smooth except today.

I use moving mic measurememt with success and end up with filters for fullrange not only below 200hz. I only cut frequencies and never boost. Compared to the rew suggested level for eq i decrease a couple of db to engage more peaks and my house curve Is set +1.8 on lows to have about +6db at 40hz and +1.5 decrease on highs starting at 3khz to have no sibilances. Overall It sound very good to me but... Today i bought a 32bit dxd record and on various tracks of It i have clipping on midbass ,when musical peaks arise. It happens sporadically on few tracks.
I have imported one of those tracks in reaper and it sounds very hot , with the highest peaks at -0.4db which Is unusual for my experience. I have another 32bit dxd and It Is recorded with peaks at -5db. Not necessary to Say It sounds perfect.

Is my issue coming from my eq attitude or Just the record too hot? What advises? All other files i play at 24bit ,they sound perfect.

How are you applying the EQ? Easiest would be to bypass your EQ and see if the problem still occurs.

Hi John, its with the exellent crave eq vst i load in audirvana. With eq off the clipping goes almost completely away .i think its a combo issue.anyway the dxd Is very very hot being not the standard lufs i usually hear .It has peaks of -0.4 which Is surprisingly at the border of risks i believe.
I think majority of files stops at -2db to be safe camp

Maybe few tips to use rew eq avoiding to put too much pressure on amplifier?maybe doing eq , i have reduced the headroom too much? Although its the First time i have clipping.maybe is this record specific. If you want i can send you the file for your test?

It appears that the Crave EQ does some kind of "automatic gain compensation"... I would suggest you have a look at your over all gain structure if you are having issues with clipping... I would suggest that you find an Mastering EQ that allows one to adjust input gain as well as adjust output gain...

BTY, I use Audirvana with the Hang Loose Convolver + FIR filters for Room Correction DSP as well as one of several Mastering EQs to add some additional color to taste... See my "more" for some hints...

See picture.auto gain can be disabled and this Is the standard setting. As i only cut frequencies i suppose should leave in and out likes they are now?

I put -5db into out field and clipping Is gone.
It seems i am done although ddude set up makes me curious what i can gain with It. If web literature Is available please point me to that so i can learn "another side of the Moon"

Once you have applied Digital Room Correction via the Hang Loose Convolver + FIR you can layer your Crave EQ or other mastering quality EQs on to fine tune and/or color to taste...

The next thing you will need to figure out is the creation of Digital Room Correction FIR filters to use in the Hang Loose Convolver...
