Hi
I just had an unrecoverable crash on 5.20.14. Attached snip shows Java error message. I could not save files, and could not even shut down...had to use task manager to end task.

At this point I had about 80 measurements. Most but not all had been saved.

I relaunched REW and seems OK, but would like to understand if there is some configuration or usage that caused this crash, and what I can do to prevent in the future.

Thanks

Too many measurements, basically. There will be a copy of every measurement made in the C:\Users\<your username>\REW\temp folder and REW should offer to load any that hadn't been saved when you start up again.

You can allocate more than 2GB of memory to REW by editing the roomeqwizard.vmoptions file in the Program Files REW folder - you'll need to drag the file somewhere else to edit it and supply admin credentials to put the modified file back. The -Xmx line controls the memory allocation, -Xmx2048m is 2 GB, -Xmx4096m would be 4 GB, but if you get too carried away the OS will refuse the request during startup and REW will not launch.

Allowing REW to convert measurements to log spaced reduces memory use (Analysis preferences - Allow 96 PPO log spacing) as does Using the smallest IR truncation setting (Analysis preferences - Truncate IR after 1.7 s).

Thanks! I was able to recover the measurements, although not the derived curves (|A|/|B|). Still, much better than having to repeat the measurements. I increased the memory allocation to 4 GB...hopefully that will prevent future issues.

Thanks for your help!
