Every time I use REW, I seem to have the same problem.
I eventually solve it, but this time I'm stumped.
I am using an old Sound Blaster Digital Music LX connected to my laptop.
I have checked all the audio settings in the laptop.
REW recognises the SB card and all the default settings on the Preferences page appear correct.
However when calibrating the SB Card, I can't get the "In" bar graph any closer than 10dB to the "Out" bar graph - and that's with Volume and Input sliders at 100%!!!!

Can anyone help?

Maybe there is some other gain setting somewhere, but it doesn't really matter that the input and output levels are different.

Thanks John.
I've finally realised that my external sound card is flaky.
So I've bitten the bullet and ordered a miniDSP UMIK-1.
Anyone want to buy a perfectly good Daytom EMM-6 Mic and a Tascam mixer? ;)

I've been reading the REW/UMIK-1 articles on the miniDSP website, and I can't believe the simple way of testing that I've been missing out on all these years.
