(July 2, 2020) Backed by nearly 50 years of award-winning speaker designs, Polk Audio continues to give audio enthusiasts access to high-performance audio gear that doesn’t break the bank. That’s certainly been the case with the company’s lifestyle-oriented MagniFi series of soundbars, which, today, has gained a new member.

MagniFi 2 is a true 5.1-channel multi-channel audio machine, housed in a sleek soundbar and subwoofer combo system perfect for any room in the home. Its simplicity by design allows for easy setup and operation, and a host of enabled technologies, such as Bluetooth, Chromecast, and Google Assistant, allows for streaming from favorite music services and portable devices, in addition to simple voice control.

And while convenience is a hallmark of a great soundbar solution, MagniFi 2’s five-driver array and 8” subwoofer set the stage for massive audio improvements over traditional TV speakers. To fine-tune output, Polk’s engineers turned to the company’s vaunted Stereo Dimensional Array (SDA) technology, borrowing 3D-specific DSP settings to create a new 3D audio mode. This mode delivers intramural crosstalk cancellation, which widens the soundstage, improves perceived height effects, and makes bass more impactful.

“Polk Audio went back to the drawing board with the MagniFi 2 and took a fresh look at how convincing surround sound could be achieved with a soundbar format,” said Michael McCole, senior product marketing manager for soundbars at Polk Audio. “This resulted in a completely new 3D DSP mode engineered to enhance Polk Audio’s existing SDA technology, which already dramatically improves the sound stage. What you get in return is a big performance improvement across every driver, including the subwoofer. It’s the most immersive and impressive-sounding soundbar we’ve heard at this price.”

Ease of use is enhanced by features such as EQ presets for various viewing scenarios (Sports, Movies, etc) and out-of-box control compatibility with TV remotes from Samsung, LG, Vizio, TCL, and Sony. And for situations where dialog is difficult to understand, Polk’s Voice Adust Technology allows voice levels to be customized and enhanced.

Onboard connectivity includes three HDMI 2.0 inputs for multi-source situations. Polk even includes free HDMI and Optical cables to speed setup.

The MagniFi 2 Soundbar will retail for $499 and is scheduled to begin shipping in August 2020.

It's bummer that these various solutions can't play together in a universal fashion. :-/
