Looks interesting... https://www.plex.tv/features/plex-pass/

It may not be too long that you won't need a cable box... just use your streaming device and something like Plex to do your recording, if you even need recording. With Hulu, it's as good as a DVR... and it doesn't have to worry about being delayed, cut short... and having to extend the time of the recording to prevent the same.

Technology is really moving on these days.

I'd dump cable today if I could... but they have me locked up with the regional sports channels. No other way to get them! :-/

Yeah... with all the college football we watch... the ONLY way to make sure we get it is if we have our local networks. Alabama plays on CBS nearly every weekend. I am not sure if that is national or regional. There might be a way to get them via Sling TV or something like that, I am not sure, but we also have to make sure we get HGTV, Hallmark, and the Weather Channel... VERY important channels for my wife.

I have Plex Pass and I like it even with its quirks.
We have a free trial of this available, but it's mostly if you want to record isn't it? With Hulu... not really seeing a need to do much recording anymore.

You're lucky Bama is good enough to be on National TV all of the time.

The only way I can see the Orioles is through the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, which is owned by the Orioles. Cable/Sat only. Same goes for the Capitals... no cable, no Caps. And, of course, college hoops.

It's a no win situation.

+1 for HGTV

MLB (and other sports) must be that way in a lot of places. Atlanta Braves is heavy with the either Sports South or Fox Sports, one or the other, and it's regional.

+1 for HGTV
I would venture to say that our TV stays on HGTV more than any other channel. For the most part it's a pretty clean and safe channel too. It's there and whatever channel has Andy Griffith on.

I think that's the biggest and maybe only hurdle for many people. I could save a TON of money if it weren't for sports. It's a price I'm willing to pay though.

I've been using Plex for 3 years now. I mainly use it as a media server to stream my movies in and out of network. Also some family member has access to my movies as well. It works great.
