Burbank, Calif., September 24, 2025 – One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the critically-acclaimed 1975 film from filmmaker Miloš Forman and starring Jack Nicholson in his first Academy Award-winning role, will be available for purchase Digitally in 4K Ultra HD and on 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc on November 11, timed to the 50th anniversary of the film’s release on November 19, 1975.



Based on the 1962 novel of the same name by author Ken Kesey, the film is considered by critics and audience to be one of the greatest films ever made. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest won all five major Academy Awards (Best Picture – Michael Douglas and Saul Zaentz; Best Actor – Jack Nicholson; Best Actress – Louise Fletcher; Director – Miloš Forman; and Screenplay – Lawrence Hauben and Bo Goldman) and in 1993, the film was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the United States Library of Congress, and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.



The film features an all-star cast including Jack Nicholson, Louise Flether, Will Sampson, Danny DeVito, William Redfield, Brad Dourif and Christopher Lloyd, with the latter two making their feature film debuts.



One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is produced by Michael Douglas and Saul Zaentz with cinematography by Haskell Wexler with additional photography by Bill Butler and William Fraker.

About the Film

A feisty misfit sent to a mental hospital inspires his fellow patients to assert themselves, much to the chagrin of the strong-willed head nurse, who turns out to be more dangerous than any of the inmates. Based on the novel by Ken Kesey and the play by Dale Wasserman.
