Bought a set of very old Klipsch speakers from a public radio station and the enclosures were beat up and the grills looked like they had cats. Had some aperiodic chambers with grills that had built for a car project 20 years ago and never used. Had the thought to use the chambers as a replacement for the bad enclosures of the Klipsch. Went to Lowes and found cabinet handles to use for the feet and some angle pieces to hold the tweeters. Painted the chamber black and mounted everything and have been very impressed with them. They now have the speed of a smaller speaker (6.5/5.25) but can still go low when needed, I personally still get fatigue from metal dome tweeters but other then that am very happy with them. Yes it is part of my garage system and yes will talk of the BLH sub below it in a different thread someday. You can barely see the aperiodic vent at the bottom of the chamber.

At what frequency is the crossover between the woofer and the horn midrange? I have the components of a pair of 70s Speakerlab Ks (Klipschorn copies) that I'm thinking of reconstituting into a different configuration myself.

Hi John, sorry but the original setup was the crossover board glued to the speaker wire push connector base and I just used the original as was in the new chamber and I never looked at the values to check. They are a pain to take apart to look at but will look for any information in other ways. Here (hope this link does cause me to be expelled) the pics look like the right thing but seems like someone has an issue with one of the measurements. Good luck, had some old Speakerlabs long long ago and really enjoyed them at the time.

Klipsch Tangent 10 were the speakers I used;

Hi RShark,
Love the ingenuity. Great repurposing of an old speaker to a new usable use. Brilliant!
