Nuvyyo’s Tablo Dual DVR Delivers Next-Gen Performance to Cord-Cutters​

(Nuvyyo)(June 5, 2017) Television fans that have cut the cord are getting a new modernized DVR option that opens up a world of possibilities. Ottawa-based Nuvyyo, makers of the popular Tablo line of cloud-based DVRs, has officially unveiled its new two-tuner “Tablo DUAL.”

Tablo Dual is a significantly sleeker version of the company’s previous Tablo products, shedding 20-percent of those models’ overall size in favor of a more compact form factor. Its new vent-heavy design also allows the unit to run quietly without the need for an onboard fan.

The other big change is the inclusion of a 64GB hard drive for storing shows and movies. For frequent watchers, this storage can be expanded to 8TB using a USB connection and an external drive. Tablo DUAL is the first networked OTA DVR to include onboard recording storage.

Tablo DUAL’s two-tuner design allows owners to record one OTA program while watching another, and streaming is also part of the equation! Recording flexibility and functionality can be further enhanced via a subscription service that unlocks a 14-day program guide that’s searchable on a handheld device.

One of the beauties of Tablo is its remote functionality, allowing the unit to plug into your home’s antenna in a remote location. Tablo then connects to your home network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, allowing you to stream to devices or your television. The most popular streaming products all carry the Tablo app (including Chromecast, Amazon Fire, Roku, and AppleTV), making it easy to stream your shows direct to your TV.

This is a fairly slick little device... and it's wireless nature makes it super easy to integrate an antenna into your home without messy installations to hide cables. Great way to avoid cable compression on local channels even if you're a still choosing to remain a cable/sat customer!

Cord cutter here. I've only used Hulu and Netflix for the last six years. Only recently have I signed up for PlayStation Vue to get some traditional channels since it's so cheap. For the most part I prefer watching TV shows via Hulu since I can watch an episode with no commercials.

I have an HD antenna somewhere in the garage. I just moved back from Germany after living there for three years so the antenna got packed before we left the US and hasn't been used since.

My biggest problem is regional sports. I can't watch local baseball without cable/sat. I'm sure there are workarounds to the blackouts that the MLB applies to its At Bat app. But, across baseball, hockey and local college sports, it would be nearly impossible to watch them with cord being cut! :-/

I cut the cord over a decade ago. I watch very little TV but do enjoy Netflix. My OTA gets used in the off chance that a Husker game is broadcast by a local station. The Tablo could record games for me those Saturdays I am working and must miss the first half of the game.

I am not a cord cutter but am a big fan of OTA. I would love to cut the cord with Cox but haven't done it yet. I have been putting together a cord cutters article and this is one of the items that interests me. Have we talked to the about a review yet. I have a couple of antennas on the way and this might make a good addition.
