Screenwriter Dan Gilroy (Two for the Money, The Bourne Legacy) made his directorial debut and earned his first Academy Award nomination for the thriller Nightcrawler, available for the first time in 4K UHD as a limited edition Steelbook February 17, 2026 from Shout! Studios. Set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles, this high-octane thriller stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Riz Ahmed, and Bill Paxton in a pulse-pounding story set in the world of L.A. crime journalism. The release includes a number of bonus features, including a new interview with composer James Newton Howard, new audio commentary by film historian Joe von Appen, audio commentary by Dan Gilroy, producer Tony Gilroy, and editor John Gilroy, and more!

Lou Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal, Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain), is a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder, and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cutthroat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling – where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Nina (Rene Russo, The Thomas Crown Affair, Lethal Weapon 3), a veteran of the bloodsport that is local TV news, Lou blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.
