New to REW--use Asio or java drivers?

I am brand new to REW and plan to use it to align 2 subwoofers. Most of my knowledge is from two
very detailed instructional videos form Hometheater guru. When he downloaded a new version of REW,he could no longer use the ASIO drivers
and recommended using java to avoid trouble. The workaround was to set the crossover on the AVR (mine is NAD T757) high to 200Hz or disconnect the main speakers.
Perhaps this has been corrected by now? Are there instructions how to install and use the Asio drivers?
One sub is a Paradigm --it has been moved. I have a mini DSP (no experience with that either) for the subs. I am thinking of running the perfect base kit on the Paradigm sub as it is very easy--for placement and a gross fix and then finer tune and time align the two subs. The second sub will be 8 ft closer to the MLP. It looks like a fun project, but I hope I have not bitten off more than I can chew. Any guidance appreciated.
