I see the release for this was delayed due to the strike.
I would think that Netflix is big enough to influence what the AMPTP does.
Is a bit of a poor show that they let the strike drag on for so long.

Yeah, it seems to be wrth looking out for.

But I saw its release was delayed by a year due to the strike.
I wasn't really following that, and it got me curious and I read a little about it.
I'm surprised that both sides have been able to hold on so long: the film makers must have a LOT of unhappy funders to have so many movies just sitting waiting on the strike to be released.
I am surprised they haven't settled.
US-based movies are already expensive, but as long as extra costs are paid by all, then it seems not such a big deal.

And this long strike must be pushing business towards foreign sites, so in the end, they both lose. Assuming the movie makers do want the industry to remain based in the USA.

But I think the whole industry is way too elitist: why should a minority containing jerks like Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson corner the market? I'd rather see a bigger number of less known actors/acresses than always the same familiar faces.

Sure, if you make a series, then you need continuity, but watching the foreign content on Netflix and the Indie films makes it clear that there's LOTS of talent away from the ones who demand multi-millions.

I'd think that with the shinking fraction of money made from movie theatres that the need to have a big name star in a movie who demands a huge salary to get people to watch it, would be reduced. Sure, spending lots of $$ to buy a cinema seat, plus the rest (travel time, parking, food etc) means most people don't want to take a risk, but if you watch it on Netflix or similar, or via a DVD then the risk/cost is COMPLETELY different.

I'd start a thread on this, but I'm too new apparently to do that. I'm not so sure why this forum does that.
