Hi
I have an Epson EMP-TW2000 (same as 1080B I believe).
Recently the Off button on the remote has stopped working.
I am hopeful that I can fix it if I can get the casing apart.

There is a screw that needs to be removed from inside the battery compartment.
Then it appears that I just have to prise the two halves of the casing apart.
However, I'm not having any luck, and am wondering if anyone has actually opened up an Epson remote?

I have opened many similar casings, such as other emotes, tablets, etc, but this has me stumped.
There is a long thin strip down each side which doesn't appear to belong to either half of the case - if that's of any help.

Have you thought about or tried a universal remote at all? Can you post pictures of what you’re talking about?

Thanks Steve, I've attached the photos below.
I'm certain the two halves are just clipped together in the normal way, but I just can't even make a start.
I'm worried that the two side strips might be hiding some screws maybe, but I can't seem to budge them either.

I can buy a generic remote that is supposed to be a direct replacement, but I wanted to try and have a go at fixing the original remote first.

I’d try and pry those side strips off. What do you really have to lose outside of buying a new remote?

OK, but I'll blame you if I break something. ;)

I’d check eBay for a replacement remote or go programmable... there’s no power button in the projector, is there?

Hi Todd
Yes there's a power button on the projector, but the projector is mounted on the ceiling.
I can reach it, but it's awkward to get to.
I'm going to have another go at opening the remote's case.

Ah.... well if that’s the case, then I agree, open it! :-)

If you break it, you have options.
