Napoleon coming to AppleTV+

Watched it today. You were right, of course. Bummer. So much potential.

Yeah confirmed. Got half way in and turned it off. I think Ridley Scott should consider retirement. His last good one in my opinion was The Martian. Don’t get me wrong, the scenery and costumes in all his films are bang on.

Cinematography and costumes is second to none and it does not disappoint in that realm of the movie. The movie scenes are a bit chopped up in my opinion and Joaquin shows little to no charisma at least in the first hour that I watched. Opening battle scenes lack detail that you would expect from a war picture. Movie could also be a victim of being overhyped by apple. I feel they overhyped Killers of the flower moon as well, yet I liked that movie. I expected Joaquin to kinda bring back his gladiator movie persona to this film but I did not feel that.

I will watch it, at least just to see what the fuss is all about, it all comes down to personal taste

Lots of potential buy just missed the mark on so many fronts. Much of the historical timeline was fabricated. As an example, in the movie Napolean returned to Josephine a year after she died.
