(September 29, 2025) Earlier this year, we reviewed Murideo’s first STIX testing devices (STIX-A and STIX-G), which ship as individual pocket-sized HDMI 2.1 tools designed to simplify in-field diagnostics. The concept is brilliant: a generator and analyzer small enough to fit in your pocket yet capable of pushing and measuring full-bandwidth 8K 48Gbps signals. The hitch being, the original STIX shipped with built-in male HDMI connectors. That means you can only plug them into gear, which is perfect for some applications, but if you want to test a single cable, you'll need to get creative.
Fast forward to today, and Murideo has addressed that limitation by expanding its STIX line with two new models: the MU-STIX-GF (generator) and MU-STIX-AF (analyzer), both equipped with female HDMI ports. That small change opens the door to directly testing a cable end-to-end or a system by starting with a cable as a signal source.
Functionally, these new female-port versions deliver the same compact, menu-driven experience as the original male-only versions. You still get the ability to run patterns, check resolutions from 720p to 8K, and verify HDCP, chroma subsampling, and bit depth at full 48Gbps. In practice, this makes them just as useful for AV pros managing large AV systems as they are for hobbyists chasing cable issues in a home theater.
Both the generator and analyzer versions of the new female models are priced at $289 each, and can be found now on AVPro's website.
