(March 6, 2026) Since its founding in 2011, Meze Audio has built its reputation around a simple but demanding idea: combine thoughtful industrial design with carefully tuned acoustic engineering to create products that feel as refined as they sound. From the widely recognized 99 series headphones to the company’s flagship planar designs, Meze’s approach has managed to deliver balanced craftsmanship, material science, and a clear focus on musical presentation.

Today, the Romanian manufacturer is extending that philosophy into the in-ear category with the introduction of Astru, a new flagship single-dynamic-driver IEM designed to deliver high-end performance without relying on multi-driver complexities.

Priced at $899, Astru becomes Meze’s top single dynamic driver in-ear monitor. At its heart is a multilayer composite diaphragm engineered to balance speed, control, and tonal weight. The driver dome is constructed using more than 80 ultra-thin layers of gold applied during a 48-hour physical vacuum DC magnetron sputtering process. That gold structure is bonded to a titanium layer and mounted on a PEEK base, forming a diaphragm assembly designed to maintain rigidity while preserving the natural tonal character associated with dynamic drivers.

The goal of that construction is to lay the foundation for fast transient response alongside smooth, extended treble while retaining the warmth and physical impact many listeners associate with traditional dynamic driver designs. According to Meze, the result is an in-ear monitor capable of imaging, layering, and resolution that rivals the performance typically associated with multi-driver systems.

On the exterior, Astru's housing reflects the company’s long-standing emphasis on craftsmanship. Each shell is CNC-machined from a single block of titanium and finished through a multi-stage electroplating process that produces a smooth satin exterior. The shell geometry has also been refined to improve long-term comfort, with each matched pair requiring up to 7 days of machining and finishing before final assembly.

The IEM is delivered as a complete listening package designed for portable high-end use. A premium detachable cable is included. It's terminated with a gold-plated 4.4 mm balanced connector and built using CNC-anodized aluminium hardware. A 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm adapter is also supplied for compatibility with standard headphone outputs.

Five ear tip sizes ranging from XS to XL are also included to ensure a proper seal and fit. For storage and transport, the package includes both a protective pouch and a soft PU leather envelope.

Astru will be available beginning March 20, 2026, through Meze’s websites and selected retailers worldwide. Product pages featuring a countdown clock will appear shortly, with ordering opening on March 20.
