M-audio MTrack 2x2

I'm using REW 5.20 Beta 1 on Mac 10.12.6. My M-audio MTrack 2x2 shows up as an Output device, but there is no output using "Check Levels.."
Under Windows, the MTrack 2x2 shows up under Output Devices when the Java driver is selected, and "Check Levels..." successfully produces output.

Device support is generally very good on OS X, can't suggest much more than going into Audio Midi settings on the Mac and checking the basics: level controls and audio format sample rate selection.

Edit: Did find a few reports online of folk that had problems, no real solution suggested other than a note the serial cable needs to be pushed quite firmly into the device.
