(June 25, 2025) – Forte Distribution has announced the U.S. arrival of the Luxsin X9, a feature-packed headphone DAC/amplifier that’s aimed squarely at the desktop audiophile crowd. This marks the debut release from Luxsin Audio, a new brand developed under the Zidoo umbrella, and the X9 brings a thoughtful combination of analog precision, digital smarts, and real-world convenience.
At $1,099, the X9 is a fully balanced unit that integrates a top-tier AK4499EX DAC chip with a powerful headphone amp delivering up to 6000 mW into 16 ohms. That alone should make ears perk up – but what makes the X9 stand out is the additional processing and usability built around its core components. Volume is handled via a discrete resistor ladder (R2R) architecture with 0.1dB precision, giving the unit excellent left/right tracking and a solid analog feel. And for those who crave a more personalized listening experience, the X9 includes a headphone-specific EQ engine based on a growing database of over 2,500 headphone models, optimized to the Harman target curve.
The HP-EQ feature isn’t the only smart touch. The X9 also includes a Headphone Impedance Self-Detection System (HISDS) that auto-detects a headphone’s impedance and suggests the appropriate gain level, providing better protection and performance without the guesswork. If you’re switching between IEMs and full-size planars, that’s a feature you’ll actually use.
From a connectivity standpoint, the X9 leaves nothing on the table. You’ll find USB-B and USB-C inputs, coaxial and optical digital inputs, HDMI ARC for integrating with TVs, and analog RCA inputs. Outputs include balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA line-level connections, plus dual subwoofer outputs. Bluetooth 5.0 (SBC/AAC) also comes standard, bringing modern convenience for wireless listening without completely sacrificing fidelity.
Touch control is handled via a crisp 4.0" 1080P display, and the system itself is built on a real-time operating system (RTOS), designed for low latency and stability. A blackout mode and auto-standby settings are included for desktop use, and the unit supports OTA firmware updates—something not always offered at this price point.
On the acoustic side, Luxsin touts its Dynamic Negative Feedback (DNF) circuitry for minimizing distortion and preserving low-level detail. Specs are impressive across the board: dynamic range is rated over 128 dB, and THD+N is less than 0.00016% unweighted on the headphone output. Crosstalk suppression exceeds -117 dB.
Forte Distribution’s Roger Fortier summed it up well: “The X9 was created by and for audiophiles who place as great an emphasis on personal audio as they do traditional two-channel listening.”
