(January 3, 2023) LG Electronics has announced its latest wave of OLED TVs, headlined by its Z3, G3, and C3 models. In response to the success of Samsung's quantum dot enhanced QD OLED panels launched in 2022, LG's 2023 lineup is backed by its new evo technology the Gen6 a9 AI Processor.

The company's 2023 Alpha series processor utilizes sophisticated AI-assisted Deep Learning to hone image and sound output. AI Picture Pro promises improved upscaling and enhanced dynamic tone mapping for more depth and detail in each frame. It also integrates an image processing technology that detects and refines important objects, such as a face, to give them a more lifelike HDR quality. In addition to fine-tuning image reproduction, the α9 AI Processor Gen6 powers LG's AI Sound Pro for virtual 9.1.2 surround sound crafted by a TVs' built-in speaker system.

On the picture quality front, evo G3 models will carry LG's Brightness Booster Max, a technology that incorporates a cutting-edge light control architecture and light-boosting algorithms capable of increasing brightness by up to 70 percent. This is achieved on a pixel-by-pixel basis, resulting in sharper, more realistic images. The G3 line is also receiving a physical refresh with its One Wall Design, which allows the TV to mount to a wall without a visible gap.

LG's latest webOS includes a new feature called "All New Home." This redesigned user interface delivers new personalization options intended to boost usability. For example, "Quick Cards" offers users easy access to the content and services they use the most – all grouped into logical categories such as Home Office, Gaming, Music, and Sports. webOS's AI Concierge can also deliver a more tailored viewing experience with personalized recommendations based on viewing history and habits.

While LG's OLED lineups will continue to support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, 2023 models can pair with LG-branded soundbars for playback of DTS:X encoded media. LG-branded TVs and soundbars also combine to offer the WOW Orchestra3 feature, which takes advantage of both products' audio channels to produce stronger, more immersive sound.

With full HDMI 2.1a compliance, LG's 2023 OLED TV lineup supports Quick Media Switching VRR (QMS-VRR) for elimination of that annoying momentary 'black screen' that sometimes occurs when switching between content played from different source devices connected via the TV's HDMI 2.1a compliant ports. They also boast a 0.1 millisecond response time across up to four HDMI2.1a compliant ports, and a Game Optimizer that allows users to quickly select and switch between gaming-specific features, such as game-genre display presets.

Importantly, LG continues to support the industry's push to create environmentally friendly products. The nature of OLED's self-emitting technology means it doesn't require a backlighting kit, reducing the overall materials required for production as compared to a conventional LCD TV. LG says its OLED TVs also employ many components made from recycled plastics, and are shipped in eco-packaging made from recyclable materials with single-color printing.

Just built a few dedicated webpages on three of my favorite TVs from CES. Here's LG's 2023 G3 Gallery Series OLED TV webpage:
