Pretty simple concept here... an image of piece of equipment with the brand name/model removed will be shown. You guess the manufacturer. Huge bonus to your reputation will be added if you guess the correct mode.

#1 is a softball

Way too easy... ^^ditto^^

Softball might not have been an appropriate descriptor...perhaps beachball?

Don't worry, tho. This is just the warm ups! In the meantime, take a swing for the model!

Close. No cigar.

lol. They have lot of models with the same face.. :)

It has to be one of these.. :)

TX-NR777, TX-NR676, TX-NR757, TX-NR656

LOL.... you got it. #1 goes to tripplej

I'll cook something a little more difficult up for number 2.

It is funny that they all have the same face.. You would think manufacturers would want to differentiate the various models by having them look at least slightly different.

I was thinking NR575 here.

It actually was the TX-NR777

Sony CDP-101?

Okay then... @leecreek nails it in a matter of 10 minutes!

tripplej: 1
lee creek: 1

me: -2 :explode:

Game is full-on ON now. Going to have to take the gloves off for tomorrow's gear!

I had one. Got it used in around 1986 but was silver faced....

Definitely had to have been part of that generation. I vividly remember the excitement over it.

Do you happen to remember what you paid in '86? I vaguely remember they cost around a grand (new) in '82... which is the equivalent of about $2,500 today.

I remember 100 bucks. Had to send it to Sony in Florida to get it repaired. They returned it in working condition but with a trick-- Don't send it back--Seems they did not have parts for it any more as they changed a bunch of stuff. Only charge was shipping down to them.

I'd be curious to understand the tech gains between 82 and 86 (and see a roster of available CD players in 1986)... $100 seems like a steal (perhaps it needing repair helped push that price down).

The Tech that was working on it called me with the statement not to send it back said the laser unit had changed from the head unit to the board. I think they changed due to channel lagging or something like that. He said the newer ones used 3 lasers. Kinda hard to remember exactly as it was a little while ago. And not getting younger here for sure.

That's interesting. Hopefully you had an Atari 2600 to keep you entertained while you waited to get it back
